Upcoming webinar & mandatory vaccines

We hope that you are keeping safe in the middle of this hectic time. We want to share two pieces of information relating to the question of workplace mandatory vaccine policies, which we know is top of mind for many of our local unions. Upcoming webinars on workplace mandatory vaccine policies We will be holding two webinars for Unifor local unions to address questions around employer vaccine policies that apply to Unifor workplaces:
  • Monday September 27 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time for locals outside of Québec (bilingual webinar) Registration here

  • Wednesday September 29 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time for locals in Québec Registration here

We encourage local unions to extend the invitation to executive members, staff, stewards and other workplace representatives who could benefit from the information in these workshops. Mandatory vaccination as a part of a comprehensive safety program Many local unions have been responding to questions from members on mandatory vaccinations. Niki Lundquist in our legal department has prepared an updated communication to local unions to help sort through the basis on which the union should evaluate workplace mandatory vaccine policies as they are getting introduced in units across the country. You will find the memo attached for your information. As always, we remain available if your local union is dealing with difficult questions or a situation you may need help with. Unifor's officers, staff team and national representatives are here to help. We ask that you stay as safe as you can. Our members will require of us a continued advocacy throughout this fall and winter, as the pandemic continues to evolve. In solidarity, Jerry Dias, National President Lana Payne, National Secretary-Treasurer Renaud Gagné, Quebec Director
